    64 Electrical

Guys any ideas for the following: The fuse (bottom fuse) for the courtesy lites, clock, gas gauage etc. keep blowing. The only way everything works normal is when the brake petal is depressed. Thanks in advance for the help. Terry

Sure sounds like you've got a short in the wiring... A competent auto electric shop would find the problem FAST and may be your best bet if you're not electrically inclined.

But, there's a 'hint' in what you describe..."everything works normal when the brake pedal is depressed." A change from late '63 for the '64 model year was the radio RF capacitor attached to the brake stop lamp switch.

In '63, the cap was connected between the 'cold' side of the brake switch and ground. A metal bodied capacitor with a single lead wire was used. For '64, the cap changed to a wax-foil unit with two axial lead wires, one running to each side of the brake light switch. That could be the source of your problem.

It's quick and easy to disconect the lead wires to the brake switch, remove the radio capacitor leads that connect there, and re-connect the brake switch to see if you've got a bad capacitor....
