    3877660

    Hello;
    In '67 JM pg 105.
    Thermostate housing.
    The first sentence states the "3877660" is "cast into the attaching flange".
    The third sentence states the "part number is on top"

    Does the 390 have the number in the base?

    Do the 400 & 435 have the number on top?

    Are both correct on all three?

    I have a 390 & a 435 w/ one of each housings.

    Thanks for your help. Ray 9992
    And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
    I hope you dance

    Ray,
    Both I believe are acceptable. I own a 1967 300 HP,and a 435 HP car and they also have one of each Thermostat housings.

      from what i understand is that the correct one has webbing at the base and the# on the flange or base.

        Ray - We've beat the snot out of this one numerous times and the answer is as Joesph indicated "yes," either location, i.e. on the neck or on the base flange, is acceptable (correct). Bill's comment on the configuration of the web flange is also important as the newer 660s have a solid flange configuration. Pete
