When did the 68 inner fender splash/dust flaps go from staples to push pins?

The JG says "The dust shields over the A-arms are held to the skirt with staples in 1968 and black platic push retainers in 1969."

I'm pretty sure I've seen later 68's with the push in retainers. Several Vette parts houses make the distinction between the 2 types.

As for my car, it has staples - Build date Jan. 24, 1968

I have read that "later" 68s have the push pins, but I'm not sure? Mine is a Feb. 68 built car with push pins, but the inner fenders may have been replaced later on?

Are there any indications of staple holes from the wheel well?

No, no staple holes at all. My car spent almost a year at the Tech Center in 68/69. The person I got it from had owned it for the next 35 years or so. He told me it was in a light rear end "fender bender" which I saw evidence of. It had some 69 items in the front end such as the grill mounting brackets, and the inner fenders are Black Glass, but have the push pins not staples.

May 14th and mine has staples, NO plastic push buttons. Terry
