67 Small block front springs

I am getting spring bind noise out of the front springs on a recent resto by previous owner. Upon removal of springs, i find that they are not indexed correctly to match the a arm pockets where they sit, these springs are supposed to be NOS original 3851100 part numbers and they have approx 11-12 coils. I have researched the repro ones and they have approx 6-7 coils.

I am curious if anyone else has had this issue installing springs to get them in the pocket correctly as the NOS ones are indexed differently (6 o'clock and 12 o'clock) than the pockets which are at 6 o'clock and 3 o'clock.

Any insight from the crowd would be greatly appreciated, thanks, Mitch

The springs are indexed only at the top, to 3/8" from the stop formation in the frame spring pocket; there is no indexing at the bottom - the hole in the lower control arm recess where the spring sits is only for water drainage.
