    Carb base plate repairs

I have a holley carb base plate that cracked when the unit was dropped. It's an early '70 4555 carb for an LT1, so I believe it's a fairly rare peice based on specific cast-in bosses, etc. Can these be welded? Or is there another base plate that is interchangable?

Dan, you might try a quick phone call to the Custom shop (restorations) at Holley Performance Products (the original Holley carburetor manufacturer), in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Custom Shop's phone number is (270) 782-2900. I recently had some 1960s vintage Holley carburetors restored there, and one of them that needed a new base plate, received a plate that was virtually an exact match of the originals. I don't know if thy'll have your exact base plate, but might be worth a quick phone call. Good luck.
Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .
