The wire screen has to be at a 45 and square, but does it need to be perfectly square or can it be a little bit diamond shaped?

The photo below shows what they're looking for - it's a Paragon reproduction of the A212CW, which is about as close as you're going to find unless you pony up really BIG bucks for an original.

It is not a major deduct by any means, and given the dollars per point argument, John's solution is likely the most practical. Here is an original.

Who's paying big $ for square (vert'l/horiz) mesh

This one on eBay went for $ 472; another for $ 586. Was there another GM vehicle or year requiring these ?

Nick,
Is that filter an original or a service replacement with the correct mesh?
At the judging retreat in dallas a few years ago I remember we were shown an assembly line AC filter on one of Chris Piscatello's cars that had small indentations around the diameter of the rubber portion. The AC part info was also debossed on the top surface.

This one has the indentations and debossed AC part info you describe. I believe it is an original factory installed filter.

Wayne, I may be wrong, but I seem to recall the same filter being used on some light duty GM pickups, not sure which years though. FWIW. Dave
