C2 under hood painting

Hi fellas ,the jg book says that the forward edge of the hood body color does not follow the 1/4 inch recessed area,that it was taped off in a straight line past the lower hood hinges or latches. did aosmith do these different ,my hood body color followed this recess at the forward edge of the hood on the original underside before i repainted my car .any one else find this on there aosmith hood.

I have 3 AO Smith cars 65, two 67's. All 3 had the tapered off paint line near the hinges. And all 3 had NO paint at all (not even primer just bare fiberglass) on the bottom front hood lip.

Thanks a lot Gene, my hood is the same ,bare glass at the forward edge,and body color following the taper ,the jg is wrong or only goes by ST.Louis cars.

Both were done basically the same. There should be no real difference between AOS and St. Louis. I dont see any real problem with the JG, except the description may need a little work. It simply means that the overspray goes onward down the sides and does not follow the channel back toward the center of the hood. It basically fades out with diminished coverage after the hinge.
