Where to Go in Long Beach

Greetings all, just spend the last week consuming all the wine I could in Napa. I'll be in Long Beach for four days, besides Corvette Mike what else is there in that area to see or find C2 parts.

    Thanks

    Harry

      Harry,

I just got back from there, day before yesterday. I would suggest you stop by the Corvette Lady's place in Costa Mesa, CA. She is literally next to John Wayne airport. She has several Corvettes in her showroom and I always enjoyed just chatting with her about C1's, C2's and early C3's. Sonja Keith is her name, and she has a web site, aka The Corvette Lady.com

        Harry,
There are sewveral well-known auto museums in the general area, most of which I've forgotten their names (CRS syndrome). Next time I visit my brother in Torrance, we'll go to most of them. Check in the phone books if you have the energy and time.

The Petersen auto museum in LA is awesome and not to be passed up. Also, Otis Chandler used to have his collection on display in Oxnard, but I'm not sure if it's still open.

Look up and see when the next Pomona swap meet is. Pomona is huge. There's also a periodic swap meet in Long Beach at a Long Beach college. Not as good. But it's local.

The Donut Derelict show on Saturday mornings in Huntington Beach is not to be missed. The one that used to be at Crystal Cove on Saturday mornings is also great. I believe it's now at the Ford luxury group campus. Both of these can be found on the Internet. Donut Derelicts is worth getting up early for. Do get there early. It's over by 9 AM.

The Peterson is terrific. The Nethercutt is supposed to be a big deal. Haven't made that one yet.

Of course it goes without saying a visit to an In N Out Burger for a double double, animal style (grilled onions), fries, and a shake. Fine dining!

Pomona was last Sunday and I think Long Beach is this week at Memorial Stadium.

The Good Guys are having their first annual Orange County Car Show and swap meet at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa this weekend.

Costa Mesa is about 20 miles south of Long Beach. Take the San Diego freeway South to the Newport Freeway South. The OC Fairgrounds will be on the right about 3 miles down.

The Long Beach Hot Rod swap meet is held at the Veteran's Stadium. Take the San Diego Freeway South to Lakewood Blvd North. Follow the signs.
