I have questions on the number of holes in the 66' wrench handle. The NCRS Judging Manual for 1966 states on page 33, that "The jack handle has three holes in the wrench handle, one on the top and one on each side of the handle".
To contradict this information, refer to Nolan Adams' book "The Complete Corvette Restoration & Technical Guide-Vol.2 1963-1967". On page 400, is states the following, "The wrench assembly was part number 3858953, which could be identified by one hole in the handle". Going on to say, "The 1966 wrench had a single hole while the 1967 wrench has a set of holes through the sides of the handle".
I have been at odds with the Judging Manual on this matter and believe that the single hole would be correct. I have a 66' unrestored 17,000 mile Bowtie/Duntov car VIN No. 118151 (Apr 2,66') with all 5 original tires and my wrench handle has only one hole. I also know of another 66' unrestored 30,000 mile big block car VIN NO. 118149 and the wrench handle is also one hole. I wanted to test the water on this issue to see if there is any supporting documentation regarding the one hole wrench for 1966 out there.
