65 Corvette Headlight motor removal

I found info on how to rebuild the headlight motors by Alann Boatright, but I need to know how to remove them from the car. Do I need to remove the headlight beams to get to the bolts or ?????

Dennis,

You don't have to remove the bulbs. Remove the electrical connection,(dissconnect the battery) turn the handle that rotates the bucket to loosen the motor, remove the ring from the groove in the shaft, remove the screw that attaches the metal brace to the motor. (Take two Aleve for your back when you're done)

In addition to Rob's comments... You'll be working from the radiator side in the gap between the hood and front valance. Remove your watch etc to save the paint. Check things out with a mirror to find the clips Rob talked about.

I agree with what everyone else has said. But in addition to those pointers I take the hood off. It is a whole lot easier to get in there and also to see.It only takes a few minutes and well worth it to me. Tom
