About what s/n did the 68s get the inside grab handle?

Was a tilt wheel an option in 68?

68's have only the telescopic option. Don't know when the grab handle was introduced, my Feb telescopic optioned 68 has the molded in the door panel hand grasp.

No Tilt option for 68s like Jim said.

My Feb. 68 built Coupe has had the door panels replaced, but has only the molded pulls, no "grab" handles.

The JG kind of confuses me on this.

It says that "In 1968, through at least SN 15,776, an integral pull beneath the top portion of the door panel is used to close the door. After SN 19,533, a horizontally-mounted color-keyed grained vinyl grab handle appears vertically below the integral pull to close the door."

Does this mean that the 3,757 numbered cars between 15,776 & 19,533 can be equipped either way?

It means the folks writing the manual don't know which style the 3,757 Corvettes had.

Consider that it is possible that the color of the door panels made a difference in the style of grab handle. Just a guess, but black might have been the most common, and one might conclude that got changed first. A color like tobacco might be less common, and may have not changed for quite a while -- until the old stock of tobacco door panels ran out perhaps.

Is the grab handle important enough that they changed ALL colors at the same time? Did it interface with some other mechanical part that dictated a common change date? The answers to those questions would give one a more sound basis to speculate. Without those answers, and maybe even some internal production paperwork, we have a lot of speculation.

My 14922 has the additional "Grab Handles", and the Door Panels are March ??, 1968 Dated.

Also, they are "Black" if that helps ..............
