I am still looking for someone that would know the difference between windshield pillars on 56 to 62 corvettes. I do not mean the door posts I understand them. The windshield pillars on my car appear to big in the area that the top of the door post meets. This I believe forces the top of the post out too far. I am putting in a new windshield and want to put the right posts in. Please Help!

Re: 56-62 W-shield pillars, Still looking, differe
I have looked at an origional 58 and also an origional 62 vette and in the area where the top of the door post hits the windshield pillar there is a definite difference. I supose no one is judging this, but I want to know when the changes were made. I like the windshield post with less casting in that area, it makes my door post fit the best.- Top

Re: 56-62 W-shield pillars, Still looking, differe
The early windshield posts, 1956-1958, were as follows: 3716385 LH, and 3716386 RH. The later design, used for 1959- 1962 Corvettes, changed to accommodate the new door post weather strip, were as follows: 3762679 LH, and 3762680 RH. Soon after introducing the later design post, between approximately October of 1959 to January of 1960, the parts people decided to eliminate the early part numbers, and they recommended using the later posts for replacements to earlier cars. The differences are mostly in the upper area of the recess where the door post nestles into the windshield post when the door is closed. If you study examples of both designs, you can see the differences. It is difficult to explain those changes in words.
