    69 R/H inner fender brackets

What would be the correct finish for these brackets on the R/H inner fender?

clamp assy for the heater hoses

    bracket for the expansion tank

    bracket for the washer bottle

or does it matter because they all got hit with blackout?

Thanks Joe. I guess I'm actually starting to learn things because that's what I thought they would be but I thought I had better ask just to be sure.

Now were these installed before or after the engine compartment blackout procedure?

A general intuitive rule: Any part or bracket that is riveted on was almost certainly installed by the body shop, and would therefore have black-out overspray or be completely obscured by black-out paint. Also, any part that is screwed on would almost certainly have been installed by the assembly line and should have no black-out. There may be some isolated examples contrary to this second part of the rule...the hood hinges are a good example; they are bolted on, but they were there with the hood installed during paint and black-out.

          Specifically...

If the brackets you named are riveted on, they probably got black out overspray IF they were in an area that was to be blacked out. Workers at St Louis made no effort to either include them in the painted area or exclude them.

As I remember the washer bottle is tucked back under the fender. In my experience, the black out was not really applied much beyond the immediate engine compartment; the back of the inner fender received fading thin coverage, and that cubby hole back under the fender got only overspray if anything.

In the case of the heater hose clamp, the clamp portion snaps into a bracket riveted onto the fender once the heater hoses are installed and positioned. I would say the riveted bracket gets full black coverage, but the snap in clamp gets no black paint...should be black phosphate

In this context, the terminology "riveted on" means use of the soft aluminum body rivets. This rule excludes "pop-rivets" which were used on the assembly line.
