    Seeking recommendations for midyear painter.

Just this afternoon, a highly respected painter, I thought could work for me, went South on me. I need a painter for my 1967 big block convertible (marina blue), that has a virgin, unmolested, no-hit body (just typical paint flaws and scrapes for decades of barn storage). I prefer to have it repainted in acrylic lacquer, but fully understand the difficulties of painting lacquer in 2007. Would consider any options, and can transport the car to anywhere in the lower 48 states for the right painter. I desire a paint job that will rank 10 on the 10 scale. Thank you in advance for any strong recommendation you could give to me, for someone I could meet with, and discuss my repainting job. Ridge Kayser.

Mike, I'm in Tulsa, Oklahoma, not too far from the middle of America, but willing to haul the car anywhere I need to. Thanks for any tip, Ridge.

Masterworks in Madison Heights MI is putting out some really impressive paint on all generations but are really, really good with C2s. Good luck with your search.

Tom Ames in Longview, TX may would also be a good choice. Sorry, but I do not have Tom's Email address handy but see his Profile to send him a note.
                Best regards,

                    Ridge,

Call Lloyd Miller in Tulsa 637-3071. He has been doing Corvette restoration for 30 years. He knows how to do fiberglass and paint to NCRS standards. If you insist he will over restore and make the paint and body better than factory.

Behind Roger's Corvette in Maitland, FL there is a painter (whose name escapes me at the moment) who, according to what I've heard, was a consultant to the Corvette paint line at one time. Roger trusted him with the ZL-1, L-88 and some other cars in his collection. The painter is great!!! He repaired some marks left in my Marina Blue '67 after someone inadvertantly backed into it a while back. You cannot see where he blended the new paint with the old laquer. If interested, give Roger a call at his store.

                          Ridge,

You might do well also to see some of their work, and talk with references.
No matter who you use, you will need to be specific as to exactly what you want done, including how much overspray and where you want it applied.

The key is: don't assume anything.
