Had my car judged yesterday and a question came up I need some help with my VIN is 716618 built February 18, 1969. At this date was the batter a side or top post battery?

Per the 68-69 Judging Manual, Prior to about SN 22081 in 1969, the top post Model R59S is used for all engines. Subsequent cars have the side-post design Delco Model R79S with terminals facing the front.

I saw this on page 15 in the Tech Information Manual & Judging Guide. With my SN being 194379S716618 would this not be prior to SN 22,081 and therefore be a top-post design?Comment

Erv, I misread your vin #. Looks like it's a top-post terminal battery for your '69. Restoration Battery in the Driveline has a good reproduction that should work for you.Terry Buchanan
