Live in northern Illinois and four years ago hit a deer, major fiberglass damage to the front end. Before the accident did not have the ignition problem.
At that time the car did not have any ignition shielding.
Repaired all of the fiberglass and re painted the car. Added the entire ignition shielding, and this could be a red herring.
Since that time, with no pattern what so ever the following occurs.
Car always starts with no issues, hot or cold. I can drive 5 miles or 500 miles or any amount in between and the following occurs. Car will start to miss, then miss more violently until finally engine goes dead. I can be doing 25 or 65. If I leave the key in the on position and try and start the car with the key or pop the clutch nothing, just dead; however, if I turn the key off/on and either use the starter or pop the clutch it will always start with out fail. Car is not running hot.
I had new plug wires, plugs, new coil, condenser, rotor replaced.
And now my next guess is ignition switch, thoughts?
