Does anyone know where I can get a reproduction of the blue certification label that is located on the driver's door jam for a 1970? This is the label with the month/year and VIN on it.

The label is on E-bay all the time and the seller puts on the data but I have not seen the quality of the work. I hope someone spends the cheap price and reports on the quality. I spent $300. for one in the early 90's and the price on E-bay is less than $50.

Re: Blue Certification Label 1970
Years ago, Lyle, a guy on ebay claimed to have the original blank forms with the transparent overlays. He wasn't selling the printing, only the form. I didn't look close enough to see if it was repro or the real deal. Was your $300 label one of those, and if it was, were you able to reproduce the font accurately? He said the font was from an old IBM Selectric print ball.- Top

Re: Blue Certification Label 1970
Different sources vary in terms of how good their cert reproduction label is and I know of nobody offering a 100% correct reproduction. But, MF Dobbins is one source and you'll find the cert label in the Corvette Central catalog as their PN 263037 at $10.50. Other catalog house may also carry the piece...- Top

Re: Blue Certification Label 1970
I purchased an eBay label for $25 and received 8 out of 10 at the Florida regional a couple of months ago. The extra 2 points is not worth $300 to me. Anyhow, it's only original once. Just my opinion.- Top

Re: Blue Certification Label 1970
The link you show won't work because some controls at ebay, but that particular item is $75 (Anyone know a Howard in Lubbock, TX?).
There is another one under 1969-1971 GM Vehicle Certification Label for only $10.99. Unfortunately, the color looks a little darker blue than I remember...as luck would have it, the high dollar one has the closer color match; kind of a light baby blue.
Neither label is printed to order to match your vehicle...You kin jus' add it with a typewriter he sez.- Top

The $300. label was very good and had all the information on it. At that time you would have thought you was buying drugs. The money and the shipping was in different states all PO boxes.

Re: Blue Certification Label 1970
You are just as well off not having a label as to have one of the $10.00 labels. There are good labels out there, but you have to hunt. The producers of these labels do not advertise.
BTW "Howard" in Lowbuck TX is also known as Billy C., Billy Clements, ChevycraftDick Whittington- Top

Re: 1970-I've got it for you!!!!
Hi Bart, I found it on ebay. I purchased one for my friend's 1970 pontiac GTO and looked pretty damm good. All they need is PRODUCTION DATE and VIN #. If your vehicle is 1972 then you add the front and rear GVW to it. They even have the white decal for the late 75'and up.
Info on ebay- item # 260095175058
Seller- sharonz28
BUY- NOW price-$25.44 or bid starting at $23.50
One day and some hours to go.
Nice product and good shipping for a reasonable price.

Re: 1970-I've got it for you!!!!
Ken, I took a look at that one, and it was intriquing...it looked pretty good. Color looks right, wording of the text is accurate, nice sharp lines...
Then I took out my original for comparison and the difference was stark; it was as clear as day that it was a repro in a nanosecond. In fact, none of those cert labels on ebay are accurate...any judge that's ever seen a real one will know immediately as Dickie and others have said.
Now...All you judges, and I know who you are, send me $5 each or I will blab the "secret" on the internet. Especially you, Dickie. LOL!- Top

Re: 1970-I've got it for you!!!!
I have said for a long time that most all repo labels for anything on a Corvette will not pass a side by side test with a known original. Maybe we need a blue label book and I know there are lots of pictures as I have a file.
