Can someone please teach me to decode the master cylinder date code for a 1965 Corvette with non power disc brakes? For example, mine reads 325. Thanks.

Re: 65 Master Cylinder Date Code
Carolyn-----
These master cylinder date codes are somewhat of a "mystery". However, ON DELCO-MORAINE CASTINGS, I believe that the date code is a Julian date coding system without reference to a year----just the number representing the consecutive day of the year (e.g. February 1= 032). Whether this same system was used on Bendix castings, like your 1965 standard brakes master cylinder, I don't know. If so, then the "325" would mean the 325th day of whatever year it was manufactured. But, it's possible some other system was used by Bendix. Certainly, their master cylinders were cast at a totally different foundry than the Delco-Moraine. It's also possible that "325" is some other casting number and has no reference, at all, as to date.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
