Source for keys for a C-4

Any suggestions for a source to purchase un cut keys for a C-4?
Ignition is rectangular with VATS, doors are oval.

    Thanks

      John,

Corvette Central has them for $16 (ignition key)
You must first bring the key to a GM dealer to get the VATS value for the key you want to copy (1-15 value code)unless you already have this info. While you are there price it out with GM.

If you lost the keys and have no starting point, try a lock smith or you will have to purchase an entire VATS cylinder and key ($25-$50) depending on year through Corvette Central. Then it will have to be insalled as well.

      Hope this helps

        John----

The GM list price for the VATS ignition keys is $33.95/each. All are the same price. You need to know the VATS code for your car before obtaining it. The part number depends on the VAT code required.

Door lock keys are a lot cheaper---about $2.75, GM list each. For an 84-86 you need groove "B" which is GM #1154611. For 87-90, it's groove "D" which is GM #1154605. For 91-96 it's groove "H" which is GM #1154607.

Also be aware, many dealers require proof of ownership before they will provide a key.

John, Peter Lindahl, the key man, said he was working on this project right now. He's on the DB all the time. John

John, I bought some nice keys for my May 83 car from Pat Kraus in MD 410-879-9647. $15.00 each a couple of years ago. John

                Joe,

Could you tell me the GM # for a #10 VATS (3740 ohm resistor)?

I have two oval keys for my 1990 ZR1. They are stamped "D" and work in the car. I noticed the 1990-1991 TIM shows a "H" key for both years. Is the groove similar so a "H" might work for a "D", is the ZR1 different or do you think the TIM is wrong?

                Thanks, John

                  John-----

The VATS #10 key blank is GM #26019400.

The TIM is incorrect on the door key code for 1990 models. All 1990 models, ZR-1 and otherwise, use the "D" coded key. 1991-96 use the "H" coded key. In preparing the 1990-91 TIM someone may have drawn an INFERENCE that if 1991 was an "H", then 1990 was the same. If so, it was an incorrect inference.
