After much indecision about square power window motors for a 1960 Corvette I now am the owner of a pair of 'round' motors with part number 5047965 dated 2-57 E and 5047964 dated 3-57 E. I have looked in my '77 parts book and do not see a number listed for the motor alone. The AIM does not show motor part numbers either. Are these the correct parts numbers for a Corvette and where does the single wire on the harness attach to the motor per the AIM. One of my motors does have a 'tang' that will receive the single wire but none others do? Are these passenger car motors? My 'square' motors are parts number 5045171 dated D 2-60 and part number 5045156 dated C 3-59. Are these part number Corvette or passenger car. I'm appealing to some of you parts number guru's for a little guidance.

Re: C1 Power Window Saga Cont'd
I don't remember a ground wire for the Corvette or car at the PW motor , it's in the harness under the dash . Corvette and Car used the same (round) part number but I dont know what the number was. Nice to hear you found the correct PW motors.- Top

Re: C1 Power Window Saga Cont'd
The AIM shows wire attaching to the motor in two locations, the cable assy has two components, a two wire bundle that plugs into the bottom of the motor and a single wire that looks like it plugs near the top. It may not be a ground, I only assumed it was. My retirement was delayed a month because of these motors! Thanks for your help. You may not remember, we met years ago at Copper Mountain. I still have the powere top info as well as the same car with power top, power windows and fi. It was a pile of parts but is getting closer to reality.- Top

David
According to my 66 parts book the right motor is # 4905387, left is 4905388 and both are listed as square. It also states that they fit 56-67 Corvette, 55-64 pass, so maybe that is a replacement motor, cause I have no listing of your numbers. Joe should be able to tell us if that is right.

Re: C1 Power Window Saga Cont'd
Sorry I don't remember , yes I did do some article for PT, PW and FI, now it's done again by many others , the round motor was original the square motor was a later re-design using the same part number I think? I did so many article years ago I for get the details. Many are rewritten now by others using part numbers which I dint. Articles done today are much better done then in the older days more detail and info.- Top

Re: C1 Power Window Saga Cont'd
Thanks Terry, I wonder if there is a differnence between the number stamped on the motors and the parts book. This is getting to be a confusing mess, I guess I should just put the darn things in the car and cover them up. However, I hope to learn more from you guys, bad thing is you can't just walk up to a nice original car and look at these things!- Top

Re: C1 Power Window Saga Cont'd
My '61 has a plug at the bottom of the motor and a "tang" near the top, to the outside of the door. the tang is difficult to attach to and will bend easily. Check your motors to if one just broke off. Let me know if you need the the motor part numbers and if I can read them witout removing them, I'll post the information.
If your harness has the plug and a single wire, it's correct. As some one else posted, the ground wire secures at the steering column.- Top
