The bolts should both be 3-5/8" long with the knurled shank.

      joe, the shank?

joe, i ordered the only ones that seemed the right length from paragon. i will have to measure. are they supposed to have some of the knural, about 1/4 inch follow the threads into the block? if you insert a bolt into the starter there is about 1/4 inch of knural exposed then the threads on the side that faces the block, thanks bill

I'm not understanding what you're saying. However, the bolts are supposed to have the section of knurled shank as I think you're describing.

Re: joe, the shank is 3 5/8

the length of the bolt is 3 5/8 as you stated. what i was tring to describe is that if you look at how much thread length there is to go into block there is thread and 1/4 inch of knural as oposed to all thread to the flat of the nose that meets the block. what i am getting at is if i bolt this up some knurl will follow the threads into the block when i draw it up. the nose has 720 on it and it is a "365" starter. also do i shim this?

the blocks are counterbored to fit the knurl

so the bolt does not move around when cranking the engine
