the AIM shows a hose between the carb and vacuum advance line on the 66 L72 engine. is this a special hose? i ask because the carb is about 5/18 th inch diameter and the line is about 3/18 th inch. is it just an ordinary peice of tubing? no part is listed in any of my parts books. bill

Nothing special about the piece of hose. The end of the vacuum advance pipe fits inside the vacuum nipple on the carb (up to the upset on the pipe), and the piece of hose covers both of them.
The '66 L-72 vacuum source on the carb is "ported" vacuum (no manifold vacuum at idle); it'll run much better (and cooler in traffic and at idle) if you change the distributor vacuum source by teeing into the choke pull-off diaphragm hose instead - that's a full manifold vacuum source, and will give you full vacuum advance at idle.- Top

Re: thank you john starting to give up
i was starting to lose faith. latley i have noticed that there seems to be alot of debate of non technical issues that have numerous respondents and debate or questions answered with questions and post that ask honest tech questions left unanswered. less chatter and more tech talk would be nice,bill- Top
