Could someone tell me the correct casting number for the master cylinder for a 1975 covette L48 auto with air. Do the part numbers appear on the master cylinder along with the casting numbers? If they do please let me know what they both are... TIA...............Joe

Re: master cyclinder casting
There are no part numbers on the completed master cylinder. All you have is the raw casting number of the housing (5455509 manual brakes or 5460346 for pwr brakes).
Then, you read your copy of the JG book to understand the correct external configuration of the MC and its cover as both were used on Corvette for MANY years and there were running changes over time that make one version 'right' for your car and other versions 'incorrect'....- Top

Regardless of whether it's a '509' or '346' (i.e. standard or power brakes), the master cylinder used for 1975 would have had no bleeder valves installed on the casting. Earlier (approximately pre-74) master cylinders of either casting number were machined for bleeders. So, that's a feature you need to be aware of.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
