    64 Paint Codes

The paint code on my 64 Convt. is 923AA and the trim code is 490AB. The NCRS Specification Guide fully describes the trim code, but only lists 923 for the paint code. Can someone tell me the significance of the AA suffix on the paint code. Thanks.

It means your red/red vinyl convertible body was made at St.Louis (S-body), and not at Ionia, Michigan (A-body). You can verify this on the trim tag, where there will be a BODY S-xxxx (x = body sequence) If it was an A-body car, the paint code would have just one "A" following.

First A is for upper body other A is for lower body eventhough it was only one color.
