I am almost done with a new convertible top installation. I am wondering if the rear bow weatherstrip that seals against the deck lid it tacked/stapled down or if it is held only by glue and the latches? Also, if glue, are we talking about contact cement?
I use staples and glue. 3M black weatherstrip glue gives that extra bit of help out at the ends where it curves. The swing latches help hold the center section down pretty well. The rear bow tack strip is not that thick, so you will need to play with the staple lenght to get ones that are not too long. You really need to bear down on the staple gun, as the rubber of the weatherstrip is pretty soft rubber. The more firmly you can staple it down, the less likely it is to come loose.
