I recently purchased a set of grille teeth that was supposed to be original. I am a little skeptical, these teeth look descent, they have the part numbers on the inside, however the leading edges look a little sharp. Do the reproduction teeth have the part numbers and the teeth locator numbers as the originals? Any other tips?

Re: C1 Repro Grille Teeth
If you're going for Top Flight, is there a prevailing view as to whether one should have original grill teeth replated, versus replacing with reproduction teeth? I've heard that the repro teeth are a little rounded (and I think the '53-'55 Judging Manual makes a reference to this too), which might dictate going with the original teeth. But I've also heard that, if replated, the original teeth are sometimes too "thick" and will not fit the grill bar properly. Finally, if the outer original grill oval is replated, will repro teeth usually match the chrome color of the newly replated oval? Thanks much. Mike H.- Top

Re: C1 Repro Grille Teeth
There has been arguments for years about the teeth being sharp or a (little) rounded , I would pass ether one, castings get worn after time and you could get one or the other NOS. Early repro teeth had the part number and a number 1,2 markings also. Then some later repro's didn't , you cant see them anyway so! Most all NOS or repro fit OK. Big problem some are installed in the wrong location or up side down .- Top

Re: C1 Repro Grille Teeth "BOB"
If you ever met some one that had their Corvette judged by me they will tell you I 'm an easy going judge (ask some one at the 05 Utah meet 53 to 55 ) because I do use common sense when using the JM ,plus I'm a Corvette DRIVER and I don't go crazy over the condition of parts (dust & dirt) . Most old timers like my self that have judged from the beginning of NCRS can go over a Corvette in 30 minutes, not 3 hours. And I'm not saying other judges are wrong or bad so don't dump on me!!- Top

Re: C1 Repro Grille Teeth "Roy"
I wasn't dumping on you Roy. I made the common sense comment with tongue in cheek and all those happy faces. I was actually trying to agree with you and point out, in a sarcastic way, that I think there is a lack of common sense in some of the judging.
I drive them too! Just got back from a short spin in my 54 On Saturday, I drove my 78 SA (original owner with 86,000 miles) to a chapter judging meet and it got Top Flight.
By the way, I don't even won a trailer, I'd rather drive them tooBob- Top
