choke on L72 question

i hooked up the choke on my L72 and found that in the cold setting the carb closes about 80% but not all the way. the limit seems to be set by a tang on the heater coil peventing the rod to extend enough to close the butterfly all the way, is this correct? bill

The choke blade cold position and unloader clearance are adjusted by bending the choke thermostat remote rod, as outlined in the Chassis Service and Chassis Overhaul Manuals.

I have run into this condition more than once over the years.
Reccommend you make sure the choke rod and coil has no binding
condition when not connected to the choke plate link.Also make
sure the choke plate moves freely.Do this on a cold engine,if
ok complete your choke rod adjustment.Final test movement of
the assembly when set on the high step of the fast idle cam.
