    1968 SMOG PUMP

I recently shipped a correct 1968 smog pump that was NOS condition and it suffered from the forces of gravity and was distroyed. Can someone give me an estimate of its value on the street including the fan. Thanks

I would suggest that you consult with Bill Hodel. His knowledge of AIR systems and their value is probably the best place to start.

NOS examples of the 68 AIR pump sell on eBay for $500-700. This means those with the original "white fan" and not the later SERVICE pieces with the black "fan" (although, those sell for almost as much).

However, you mention that this pump was "NOS condition". So, from that, I assume that you mean "used but close to NOS". Used pumps, even fully rebuilt examples, of the 1968 pump, albeit with black "fans", are readily available for less than $100. The "white" fans can be purchased in reproduction for about $75.

I recived a pump the same way and if you are making a claim for damage I would like to see how it turns out. Mine arrived with a pulley bent and the elbow broken. I had both extra parts in my stock. I made a claim for $53. and was rejected for poor packing by USPS. I payed $250. for a 73 pump. How was yours shiped and what was broken?

Gary I have an original owner 68 with the original pump. Instead of having mine rebuilt although it still operated when I removed it, the bearings have to be almost dry of lubricant after all these years, I replaced it with a rebuilt one I bought for Auto Zone. Same pump as the original side by side viewing except the rebuilt pump has a black different molded plastic filter, the numbers on the cast iron piece are of course different, but any other pump you purchase will be as well and from what I understand are not judged. The price was very reasonable. The rebuilt unit has been on the car for about three years. The original unit is not for sale at this time.
