    '66- '67 BB Distributors

Are there any differences in the outside appearance of the '66 (1111093) 427/425 hp distributor and the '67 (1111258) 427/435 hp distributors?
Thanks for your time and response.

Most of the distributors used on Corvette in a given era look the same from cursory visual inspection. The different PN's typically dealt with internal configuration differences (spring tension of the points, specific centrifical and vacuum advance characteristics).

There is a cast in groove just above the main drive gear that does not go all the way around on the mid year BB distributors (both Corvette and passenger cars)...

Dave -- I assume you're looking at that eBay unit. If you're thinking of converting to an "093" that should work OK (especially with the partial oil groove) in either a "962" 396, or "942" 427 block.

Other signs: no hole for cross-drive tach gear thrust button (ie. pre-mid calendar 1970). September '66 assy. tag (maybe this explains the oil groove; ie. getting rid of previous model year stock). I would like to hear from others with '67 427 distributors [for all six possible part #s], whether this partial oil groove was used throughout 1967 MY.

This particular unit also has the good # vac advance. Have others also noticed NO mold cast # on their tach drive cast iron housing (above intake manifold flange), but rather have the number cast on the lower shaft (not visible when on the car). Can't say I've seen this before, but then I don't get out much.

Someone either "borrowed" or cracked the magnet in more than one spot. I see that some supplier is re-popping the coil and leads (but not the magnet).
