    REBOUND STRAP RIVITS

    WHAT IS THE CORRECT RIVIT HEAD ORIENTATION ON THE REBOUND STRAPS?
    WHEN I REMOVED THE STRAPS, I BELIEVE THE RIVIT HEADS WERE ALL FACING AWAY FROM THE AXLE. IN OTHER WORDS THE FRONT RIVITS WERE INSERTED FROM THE FRONT AND THE REAR ONES WERE INSERTED FROM THE REAR.

      The heads should all face the same direction.

          The rivets ahould all have the head facing the rear of the vehicle. They pass through the strap from the rear side and the portion that sticks out should be pointing towards the front of the car. Recently verified by removing my almost 50 year old straps. Also make sure both ends of the straps loop to the inner side of the strap, facing each other.

                  According to the 56/57 AIM, rivits heads are all facing away from the axles!!!

                      Interesting. The 53-55 AIM with its cute cartoon drawings doesn't even have a drawing or picture of the chassis in it! While the 53-55 JG just says rivets but not pop-rivets, but it doesn't specify their direction.

                      BTW the photo I posted was of my 54 rebound straps which I beleive are originals
