I was thinking about buying a set of Corvette America's "bolt on" knock offs until I saw the recent comparison pictures with this new supplier. Are the CA versions really that far off from the originals as the pictures imply?
What should the the width of the spokes be, i.e. what were the original ones?
Oh great. I was hopeing to not have to pay the higher price from the new guys, but maybe you get what you pay for. It sounds like the CA version is now nothing like the KH original ones.
I have set of the Corvette America bolt-on wheels on my '65 and they look pretty good with a set of goldline radials. I know that there are differences between them and the original K-H's, but for about $1,500 from Virginia Vettes, only you can decide what you can live with. I just can't see paying $3K for a set of repros.
Thanks for the reply,John. I'm leaning in that direction also, i.e. the CA route. I didn't think that they look bad either, and until I read about the differences here I may not have noticed it as there are a lot more repos out there than original ones.
My brother bought a set last fall from VA Vettes and I think they look pretty good. May not be as original, but to the average joe they look really nice.
