67 resistor mounting.

    67 resistor mounting.

    Does anyone know where the resistor for my 67 L68 was mounted? It was mounted horizontally at the bottom of the cove area (wiper motor area). This doesn't look original and the pictures I've seen show it up on the left side of the cove area mounted vertically.

    There is a couple of small holes in the firewall that were probably drilled by a previous owner (the car had stuff from an alarm all over the place). The one hole that is in the area left of the cove is too low. If I try to mount it there, it runs into the wiring harness and window washer line. I can't move the lines because of a factory mounted clip. I could move the resistor up and drill a new hole but this would not be where the resistor was originally mounted.

    Any help would be appreciated. It is a very late 67 w/ tri-power if that is any help.

    My 67 L68 has the original ballast mounted vertically on the drivers side of the wiper motor.It also lines up with the middle of the drivers side valve cover and next to the oil gauge line.

      Mike -- Don't forget that if the car originally had K66 option (Transistorized Iginition) there was no ballast resistor, and hence, no hole in the firewall.

        Wayne you're right. I looked at my tank sticker and it shows it as origally with transistorized ignition. Looks like I have to go find one for my car now. I think I liked my old problem of were to mount the resistor better though.
