What is the procedure for transfer of a vehicle from a Texas title to an individual in another state? Is a visit to a courthouse or county clerk's office required?

I have bought a car from Texas. As long as the Texas title is properly endorsed by the owner(s), you should have no problem obtaining a title in your name in another state. Of course, you may have to pay sales tax in the state in which you title.

Call the Texas DMV. I suspect your state sends the title to Texas when you surrender the Texas title retitling the car in your state.

Ronnie....As long as you get a clear..lien free...title from the owner, you won't have a problem. Some states also require a bill of sale. CHeck with your local Motor Vehicle Admin. Beware of a "flip"...that is someone selling a car that was never titled in their name, with exception of a licensed dealer. Make sure the name(s) on the title are the same as the person you are buying it from otherwise you may encounter problems getting the title tranfered to your name.
