I'm going to send off my 64 brake cylinder for resleving and need to decide if I should keep the original aged patina, or repaint. It's not too bad and only light rust appears at attachment base and underside. Wanting opinion of those who have crossed this bridge. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Master Rebuild-Paint ?
Jim,
Unless you instruct them otherwise, some rebuild shops will not only automatically paint the outside, but the inside as well, which you don't want. I would tell them not to paint it at all, and do it correctly yourself.- Top

Re: Master Rebuild-Paint ?
Rob, Thats just what I had in mind. I was planning on using Apple Hydraulics, which seem to have a good reputation on this Board. I have the rebuild kit and will be doing that myself so dont need to worry about mixing different fluids. Would the proper sequence of events be : Bead blast, send to AH, get it back then paint ?- Top

Re: Master Rebuild-Paint ?
Jim,
To be honest, I can't remember how Apple does the rebuild. If I remember posts regarding them correctly, you dissasemble it, they will do the cleaning and/or bead blast and rebuild and send it back ready for paint.- Top
