Can anyone offer some guidance on good, reliable source(s) for this part? I am trying to complete a resto. project on my '72 LT-1. Thanks, Jeff B. # 31752

Re: '72 exhaust manifolds/rare!
Jeff, LT-1 exhaust manifolds are very hard to come by. I don't think anyone makes them. I would put an ad in the driveline "wanted" section. If it wasn't for the A.I.R. holes you could get buy with any old 350 exhaust manifold but the LT-1s have different part numbers. Don't worry about the dates as they are to difficult to read for judging.- Top

GM CASTING #3932461 are what you need for both sides on a 72. David Crane of Cranes Corvette in San Diego, CA (www.cranescorvette.com) has a VERY large inventory of original exhaust manifolds and, what's better, much of his inventory is from California cars which suffer less with respect to pitting type corrosion of exhaust manifolds. Of course, you're going to pay "vendor's prices" from someone like David, but I do think that he'll have what you're after. These manifolds are not all that rare so don't let him tell you otherwise. However, this casting number was produced both with and without AIR fittings so make sure that you get the ones WITH FITTINGS; it is not practical to add them to manifolds not so originally machined.
Your other less expensive route is to go to swap meets. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
