    1966 Trim Tag decoding

Need some help decoding a trim tag for a 1966 conv, 4sp, 350 hsp:

    H15 body build code: March 15, 1966
    467 style code: conv
    947: Rally Red exterior
409: ??????????????, 407 is red vinyl and 408 is red leather, is this a mistake?
A-5439 body sequence: AO Smith body

    3858174: engine cast #
    C46: engine cast date
    F0308HT: engine assembly

    Vin: 194676S117172, assembly around March 24, 1966?

Can the block assembly proceed the body build date?
Can the block and body get to St Louis and have final assembly by March 24, 1966?

This is a two owner car with the last owner owning since 1976. He says he has changed nothing and represents the car as a survivor. Does the sequence of dates appear to be correct? Thanks John

    Re: 1966 Trim Tag decoding

Hi John Is it 947 or 974 for paint code did you mis-type like they did on 409 interior code. AO Smith bodies were shipped as you know to ST Louis so there all over the place. The 409 is a mistake. My 64 coupe has a conv trim tag and its real, Trim plates are VERY hard to fake today. Phil 8063 PS there is a post below with some of this.

Phil, I think the 974 is correct for Rally Red. What are your thoughts on the body build on March 15 and the assemble date of the car on March 24. Is that enough elapsed time to assemble the car?

        John,

I don't see any problem with these dates. My '65 body was built at AO Smith on May 14 and the car was assembled on May 24.
