are BB and SB forks the same?

i am using the fork off a SB bell housing. i believe the housing was a 443 10". the fork does not seem to line up right on my 444 11" housing. the bearing seems off center.

      Bill------

The clutch forks are the same for small block and big block, regardless of bellhousing. Fork GM #3887177 was used for all 1966-81 Corvettes. It is SERVICE for all 64-65, too.

        joe, what could be wrong?

i bolted up the trans and housing on my bench with the fork in place. when i tighten it up and check the bearing it is bound up on the input shaft. it seems like the alignment of the fork is off. should i adjust the ball stud to center it more. the bearing i bought is fit to the input shaft and slides back and forth when i just put the bearing over the shaft. any thoughts? thanks, bill

do you have the TO bearing installed

correctly on the fork? the spring goes INSIDE the TO bearing groove

The bottom photo says INCORRECT MOUNTING.... Whats wrong with it? Just trying to show how it looks when incorrect. The top photo although blurry, shows a correct mount. Didn't realize the blurry photo until after I'd put things together so I couldn't retake it....
