    '70 M-21 with two VIN stampings

    The car the transmission came with is #5020; however, #5029 is also stamped on the tranny. The date code is January 12th, 1970 and my car is February 26th, 1970.

      The car built before this was 5019. I bet the guy stamping the tranny remembered to change the 1 for a 2 but not the 9 for a 0. Not until after he stamped the first time anyway.

          That's what I figured. Years ago, I had a 1971 LT-1 coupe also with 2 vins. One was intentionally marked out, while the other matched the car. Considering that the car had never been restored, it was probably a factory mistake also.
