    66 park brake question

Last fall got nicked for not having "mickey mouse" clips on the park brake cable. Currently have "U" shaped clips and checked AIM and appears to show the "U" shape. JG states "mickey mouse" clips. Were the "mickey mouse" clips used in '66. My car is a April build. Any help is appreciated!

My opinion is that either clip might have been used for 1966. However, I strongly suspect that the "U" shaped clip was used for the majority, if not all, cars. The problem is that yours is a fairly late car. So, I'd say that it's a bit less probable that it had the u-shaped clips than if it were an early car.

Thanks Joe for the insight. I was leaning towards replacing them. The car was gone through over 6 years ago by a previous owner, so I'm not assuming the "U" clips were original to the car. Thanks again for your help.

Although the '67 JG calls for "U" clips at the frame corners and Mickey Mouse clips at the trailing arms, I can document that the MM clips were used at both locations; we're working on it.

My copy of the 1967 AIM shows the "Mickey Mouse" clips at both the trailing arm and the frame corner point for the rear parking brake cable. Both are identified as item #2 which is further identified as GM #3875092--retainer. Also, GM #3875092 is definitely the part number for the "Mickey Mouse" clip.
