    Re: Restoration Ripoff?

Considering that your car needed a frame & body I can't imagine that all else was ok. I do believe that the estimate should have started out at 70K though. To believe that the car was going to be restored for 35K is crazy. JMHO

      Re: Restoration Ripoff?

I have done a few frame off's on sharks and restoring all the parts sending nothing out and no internal engine, transmission,or rear end work other than seals. I have about 1200 hours in the job. Add on the parts and plug in a labor rate and $35,000. is too low for the job you wanted done. The person you hired either didn't know or led you down the path. The $80,000. he wants now is closer to what I think the job should cost and yes the car won't be able to be sold for anywhere near the 80K and then you need to add what the car cost in the begining.

Re the comment on a 10% upward float limit, there is a Consumer Protection Act in Ontario.
