69 Engine Date Code?

Can you please help me. I have a 69 Roadster with a engine date casting of M 18. The Trim tag says the car is a C11 (october 11). None of my books show a M casting code, but i do see the 69 model year was more than 12 months long. Does this add up?

Oh and the engine was assembled 0927 Sept 27.

There was a post on the very subject within the last week or two. There is someone on this board who has the long story about this. Stay tuned or hunt the posts for the last week or two.

The Saginaw Foundry folks have confirmed recently that the "M" blocks were coded that way to indicate that they were samples run with a process change; there is no way to determine the actual casting date of an "M" block.

jack, i posted a question about the 'm' block on friday march 16 @6:35 p. you can find it on page three of this discussion room. it is likely your block is factory. jim
