is the outlet for a 66 427 pump different than for a 67. i bought a 90 degree adaptor and the fitting going into the fuel pump is too small. it is a 67 fuel pump i am using. is the outlet on the 66 pump smaller making it correct for the fitting?

Re: C2 fuel pump question?
i got a 90 degree adaptor from paragon that they list as 1/4" X 3/8" the outlet on my #40482 pump is what i beleve to be 3/8 as the fuel line to the carb will thread in they said i would need to buy a #40366 as the outlets are different on the 2 pumps and they do not have a 3/8 by 3/8 90 degree fitting.- Top

Re: C2 fuel pump question?
Bill, I do believe that the 66BB and 67 pumps are different in that the 67 has a machine thread with a seat. The earlier pumps are a straight pipe thread and the fitting is a tapered pipe fitting. But the 67 pump is NOT a pipe thread. In fact someone called me with a question similiar to this a couple of weeks ago. Fuel pumps are not my forte but I know some basics.
Maybe Jorjorian will come back and answer this question cause I am sure he can help you also. It seems that the guys have a lot of problems with pumps and fittings. Don't use any teflon tape on those fittings either. Causes grieve for sure and you will get dinged for it. John- Top

Rick, et al-----
Well, that's interesting; I didn't know that. But I think that I understand now. The 3/8" TUBE fitting threads are approximately the same OD as 1/4" NPT. So, what I always thought was 3/8 TUBE is actually 1/4" NPT for some of these earlier pumps.
It also explains why Paragon has a 3/8 X 1/4 90 degree elbow---they're talking about an elbow with 3/8" TUBE on one end and 1/4" NPT on the other. That's a fairly common fitting. On the other hand a 3/8" TUBE to 3/8" TUBE is a very uncommon fitting in things automotive. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Yes, assuming that the outlet fitting on the 66 pump and the L-88 pump are in the same relative position. This is another feature that varies widely among fuel pumps. In fact, the relative position of the inlet and outlet is one of the main things that generates the plethora of fuel pump part numbers. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
