Hello all- Does anybody know if the hood support was in place before or after the body was painted on '69's. I am trying to figure out if the hood support reinforcement and bolt were painted body color or if the plate was natural steel and the bolt black oxide or what. My original plate is bare shiny steel underneath but the body has been repainted without this in place and so I can't use paint or lack thereof underneath as a guide. Any help is appreciated.

John:
Thanks for the quick response. If it was put on after paint, then I assume that the plate was bare steel (since the underside of my original is bare, shiny; I painted the top surface with semi flat black) and the bolt was black phosphate or oxide as the other 2 lower support bolts are. Thanks for your help.
