1992 Corvette Running Temp,

Looking for a little mechanical insight. I have a 92' Vette with the LT-1. What should the normal operating temp. be? On average. I am in NJ, and we are experiencing some warm days, low 90's with high humidity. Is it normal for teh car to run at 220 degrees when in stop and go, or just plain stopped traffic? As soon as i get moving the temp goes back to a more reasonable 208 while cruising. Any help is appreciated!

What you describe is completely normal for a '92. The primary cooling fan is not even activated until a temperature of about 220 degrees is reached. I've forgotten the precise temp for this, but it's definitely in the 220 degrees or higher range.

Thanks for the repsonse. I'm just wary of an overheating problem as I once watched and old Trans Am, of my roast itself because I was young, didnt know any better, and figured it was normal to run that hot due to the engine size (455 cid)...Its good to know that its normal for the car.
