    Trailing arm rebuild

Should I reuse the orginal backing plates to retain the numbered plate and also any info or things to do on rebuilding the arms.

    Bob,

If you have Bair's do them, and you're not happy with the condition of your backing plates, they usually have plenty of originals to swap out with yours. Regardless of who does them for you, be specfic about exactly how you want the various pieces finished, such as the spindle support...painted black as original, etc. If not, you might find stainless/cast blast colored paint used in areas you didn't want it. You're only going to do them once, so make sure you get them restored/rebuilt the way you want.
