Looks like a GM bottom with the spacer and a modified (maybe billet aluminum) top to run an HEI, as mentioned.

Verle, THere was an outfit in FL that used to modify the FI distrs with a HEI setup. I do believe the owner whose first name was Jim passed away. Heard his wife was still in business though. Used to see them at the old Bloomington shows in Springfield years ago. That's definitely an HEI dist cap. You wonder how it would fit in a midyear. Problem is finding a top half of the distributor to restore it back to original. I saw a set up like that for sell at Corvette Carlisle. Kept on walking for sure. Good luck, John

It looks like a 57 aircleaner base, don't know what the filter is.

This is the only picture I have and it is low quality.

                    John,

It certainly looks like an HEI top. It makes me curious about the distributor shaft. It would be a very tight fit in a midyear if it would fit at all. Maybe a little grinding and glass work.

Verle, At first glance when you look at the photo it first reminded me of a weird FI type distributor that none of us have been able to truthfully determine it's application. There is rather high old distr that is seen in the flea markets once in a while that has a tach drive on on both ends. It must be industrial use or heavy equipment use. Has a lot of similiar parts to it that a typical Fi distr would. Booher if you are looking in tell us about this distr as you had one for sale about 5 years ago.
