C3 Headlight Door Help Needed

Can anyone suggest a methode to trouble shoot the door operation on a 76. When I started the car for the first time this year, the lids flipped right up, and the lights were off. I tried cycling the switch, and they would not go down. I dont have a diagram in the maint manual nor do they give a troubleshooting guide.

Check and see if the override switch under the steering column has been pulled down. If that does not fix it, let us know and we will give you more suggestions

Thanks Dick, I think it was pulled down, I pushed it up with out the engine running and nothing happened. I will start it tomorrow when I move it out to wash it and let you know! Thanks for your offer of help....I hope I dont need it!

The headlight and wiper door actuators work by venting vacuum to the servo side of the circuit. That means when you shut off the engine with the over-ride engaged, you lost any vac stored in your reservior. So, you shouldn't expect to see a difference until you restart the engine and resupply the vac resservior...

I do not know how many headlamp/wiper door problems that we have fixed over the years by operating the override switches.
