    72 bb convertible value question

    Hello,

I have located here in Belgium a 1972 BB convertible that is roughly about 60 % , resto was not really good. The mechanical condition can not be checked, rear fenders are flared, headlight assemblies are changed to plexi's. The owner claims it is matching numbers (I could not check them so far).
Birdcage had been repaired although i suspected not so good job (front was taken completly off) and I could see some frame repairs under the number 3 en 4 bodymounts... There should be some new parts in the package, although I've not seen many.

He's asking 10000 euro, which is about 13500 $ for the car total.

What do you guys think ?

BTW : big blocks are not rated much more than small blocks here.

    Yves

    Hello from Berlin
I know BB corvettes are fine cars but at this condition you have to rember, all parts you need have to Importet , all parts you need have to order and the shiping coast are the biggest think at this time. Also the parts are expensiv too. I think 10K is to high.

Run Away! Unless you've left something out like it was once a racer of some note.

Any 72 BB convertible if the block is original and it is complete it would sell fast at that price as all other parts can be replaced.

Anytime I see a shark car that has flared fenders and plexi lights, my ears ***** up (especially if it resides in Europe). Its a very remote chance, but you just never know, it could have been a race car in a former life. I would check to see if there is any evidence of a roll bar/cage ever being installed, if so, take a much closer look. Signs of frame repair or alteration can also point to a former race car. Even if it was a race car, chances are slim that it had any real history. But don't discount it, there have been lots of instances where what at first appeared to be a piece of junk turned out to be a valuable piece of Corvette race history.
