AC Delco Plugs... R43 or R45???

Since you can no longer buy AC Delco R44 plugs, at least I could not locate any locally here in Omaha, NE.; which plug would be a better choice between an R43 which is one heat range colder than the standard R44 or an R45 which is one heat range hotter? This is for a 1965 Corvette equipped with 327/350 engine and will be driven to and from NCRS events and around town.

    Thanks,

    James West

Re: AC Delco Plugs... R43 or R45???

LAST YEAR I PUT A SET OF R45 PLUGS IN MY 62 CORVETTE 340 HP. IT IS A HIGH COMPRESSION ENGINE (11.25 TO 1)AND IT HAS NEVER RUN BETTER. THE CORRECT STOCK PLUG IS A 44 OR A 45 FOR CITY DRIVING. THE R45 PLUGS ARE AVAILABLE AT MOST AUTO STORES FOR ABOUT $1.30 PER PLUG.
YOU CAN FIND NEW 44 PLUGS ON EBAY BUT YOU WILL PROBABLY PAY $5.00 OR MORE PER PLUG PLUS SHIPPING.

          Please turn off caps, and...

...if you want to use an OE type non-resistor plug as was used up to circa 1969 the NGK B4 and Denso W14-U are non-resitor equivalents to the discontinued non-resistor AC 45. They both also have a more corrosion resistant shell than the black oxide finish on ACs, but will loose more points than ACs if you have your car judged.
