I would like to replace the master cylinder on my 67 with J50 power brakes. I know i need a 5455509 casting number. Are these master cylinders date coded, and if so can some one explain how to read the codes? Also are there any other numbers besides the casting and date? thank you

Re: 1967 master cylinder date codes
Randy,
Not sure the 67 M/C has a date code, at least it is not called for in 67 JG.
The new 509 repro with the have out now (SS Brakes) is pretty exact. At judging last April, I had the 67 Team Leader trying to tell the difference from an original.
Finally got full points on it, cap and all.

Re: 1967 master cylinder date codes
Randy----
The 67 master cylinders were usually not dated. Later 5455509 master cylinders (used through 1976) were dated. The dating was a very small stamping on the forward brake line fitting machined surface. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
